Back Country Skiing and Touring
The main valley offers great ski touring right off the highway. The back country is really wild. We have a growing network of cross country trails leaving from the Stellar Hut. At the moment, everything is self guided, we provide information on conditions and potential routes.
Kite Skiing
The Tatshenshinin area is windy. The powder snow exists, but it is not world class because the wind will come whistling through the passes destroying the crystals and carrying a pack of delighted kite skiing maniacs. Check out www.kiteyukon.com for current plans. Or book yourself a bit of fun time at the Stellar Hut.
The Stellar Hut at Kilometer 142 Haines Road is open from January to April for the best of the ski season. The cost is $25/person/night. Please register with Sian or Lance at 867-634-2729.
The best of the winter
The Tatshenshini is an excellent winter playground. There is great ski touring, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, kite skiing and snowmobiling. The area is vast and there is still room for everyone.
